What to Expect

During Your Visit

During your visit, Dr. Siegal will address your specific concerns and explain if and how surgery can improve your symptoms. Medically covered procedures require measurements and clinical photographs to be taken during your exam. In some cases, a visual field test is performed to demonstrate a loss in the patient’s superior visual field.

Treatment

Once you and Dr. Siegal have agreed upon a treatment plan, you will work with our surgery coordinator to schedule your procedure. All of the details around your surgery including pre-operative testing, insurance coverage, out of pocket costs, and logistics will be addressed. Pre-operative tips and post-operative instructions will also be provided. Lastly, you will schedule your first post-operative visit which is typically 1 week after your surgery.

Recovery

You can expect an average of 1–2 weeks of bruising and swelling after a surgical procedure. During your initial consultation, you will receive detailed instructions on post-operative care and pain management. Heavy exercise should be avoided during the immediate post-surgical period.

Follow-Up

At your first follow up visit you can address any questions or concerns you might have. If you require suture removal it will be done at this time. Patients are then typically scheduled for a final follow up visit in about 2 months.
